Couples can choose a non-denominational civil ceremony led by a Celebrant, with or without a Registrar for legal formalities, or opt for a traditional Buddhist โPoruwaโ ceremony. The vibrant โPoruwaโ ceremony can be customized to your preferences, while Celebrant-led services typically last around 25 minutes, featuring spoken vows and readings. Traditional Buddhist ceremonies, on the other hand, take up to 45 minutes. The choice is entirely yours.
Please note that formal Christian wedding ceremonies cannot be held in gardens in Sri Lanka. However, a Christian blessing by a clergyman is possible, though it requires arriving in Sri Lanka months in advance to arrange a meeting with the minister.
Personalized celebration that perfectly suits your special occasion.
To get married in Sri Lanka, you must provide an official statement from your local authority confirming that you are unmarried and legally eligible to wed in Sri Lanka. Additionally, a copy of your passport and the tourist visa issued upon arrival are required.
If someone is submitting the application on your behalf, they will need a letter of authority, signed identically to the signature on your passport.
Once approved by the Ministry of External Affairs in Colombo, your documents must then be verified by the Consular/Embassy of the country that issued your passport. We can assist with this process, and couples will be informed of the associated costs, which vary depending on the countryโs consular fees.
